Water Filter

Today i worked on the drinking water filter system,  its a 3 stage filter system the first being a           5-micron sediment filter, followed by an activated carbon filter, then a CTO carbon filter. After that lot, there is a reverse osmosis membrane unit followed by a T33 taste and odor removal filter, then finally an ultraviolet sterilizer before it gets to the tap.

That ought to keep the water drinkable.

More Plumbing

I have been working on the water control box, it essentially is a box that contains the wast tank dump controls and the water inlet valves.

The "freshwater inlet" also doubles as the water inlet for the truck. it has a valve between it and the fresh water tanks that switches off when the tanks are full.

The "wast tank rinse" feeds water to a sprinkler system within the wast tanks to flush them out.

The "Filter Intake" allows me to suck water from a river etc and filter it via a 3 stage filter system a reverse osmosis membrane and a uv sterilizer.

Wast Tank Aeration System.

I mentioned a long time ago about an idea to bubble air through the wast tanks in an effort to stop the buildup of gases that smell.

I tested this idea today, It seems to work well.  I intend to time the operation to happen every 6-8  hours for 5 mins.

Here is a video of it working.

A Bit of Plumbing

Today was plumbing day, specifically waste plumbing for black and grey water.

I have a vent from both the gray and black tanks and one feed from the toilet to the black tank and two into the gray tank, one from the sink and one from the shower.

Electrical, Cornering Lights

Things have been a bit slow lately, I suffered a knee injury and that meant I couldn't kneel down or really walk properly for several months.
Thankfully things are a lot better now, so i am starting to slowly get back to the build.

I wanted to fit cornering lights to the truck,  cornering lights normally work using the steering angle sensor from the ECU of the vehicle, this switches the lights on when you turn the steering wheel.

A Tatra truck hasn't got either a steering angle sensor of an ECU,  (thankfully)  So a little thinking outside the box was needed.

You will need cornering lights when it is dark and you are turning (indicating) So I designed a simple little circuit that I built inside a standard automotive relay case.

The circuit is activated by a photocell when it gets dark, then when you indicate it converts the indicator pulses to hold a solid state switch on to activate the cornering light, when you stop indicating after a short delay the cornering light goes off.

The device is solid state (No Relays) using a Mos Fet transistor, it can switch 23Amps at 24volts.

Generator Auto Start

I was doing a bit of testing to work out the generator Autostart, the control signal comes from the Victron color control unit, once a set of parameters are reached a contact closes to start the generator.

i am using a Cummins Onan QD5000 diesel generator, so i needed to build a simple timing interface to enable the control of the generator.

the picture shows the generator with the lid off.
