I have spent some time on the spare
wheel lifts recently, the wheel and tire weigh 470Kg so a a substantial mechanism is needed to lift them, not to mention bouncing
around on the back of a truck.
My original plan was to do the lifting
with hydraulics, this was problematic due to not being able to get
the rams I needed, it meant I would have to do two-stage hydraulic
rams, a little over the top to lift wheels.
So on to plan "B" enter
the Superwinch S5000, I have been experimenting with this and it
works just fine, however, I have now decided to use a pully block and
double line pull system to lighten the load on the winch.
